It has been brought to my attention that what I'm writing about Willie's condition can be (or is being) interpreted as some sort of shortcoming by Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue Centre. There is no shortcoming.
The only reason that Willie left the Rescue after only a month or so is because of me. The stars aligned beautifully when I discovered that a horse trailer was going from close to where I live to within 10 minutes of WHHR, and back in one weekend. Hitching a ride with them allowed me to come and get Willie myself, and without having to make another trip 'down south'. Cost, time... it all adds up.
Brenda knew that I was going to do everything in my power to make and keep Willie well and happy, and so she agreed to let me get him much sooner than what would be the norm. I was fully aware of what I was getting into and I'm by no means complaining. In fact, I'm thrilled with 'what I got' What I share here is not intended to point fingers at ANYONE; it is merely a journal of what I did/do to help this little guy get better.
So, if there are people who like to criticize or look for fault at Whispering Hearts... well, I can't really help that. It would be unfounded and frankly, a waste of time. I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for what Brenda and Dave do there; I have seen it first hand.
